Esports Tournament Qualifying and Seeding
An Esports tournament requires team to have a score of at least 700 to participate in the tournament. If the team qualifies to participate, provide them with a tournament seed number. If the team does not qualify for the tournament, notify the team of the additional points needed to qualify.
You will write a program to do the following:
- allow the team to enter their name and number of points.
- determine if the team qualifies to be in the tournament and if they do, congratulate them and report their tournament seed number.
- About Seed Numbers:
- A seed number is the round the team will compete in initially.
- It is a random number between 2 and 8.
- The same seed number can be used for multiple teams.
- If the team does not qualify, send a keep trying message along with the number of points needed to qualify.
Develop Test Cases
Before you write your code, determine a set of test cases as well as their potential output values. What are the three scenarios for the team's points that should be considered when testing? Unsure? Use what you have learned about using AI as a coding partner to ensure that you have considered all the necessary test cases.
For each test case, be sure to include expected outputs.
Algorithm
Write an algorithm in the form of either pseudocode or a flowchart to complete your program.
Using your test cases, trace through your algorithm to ensure it is working in all cases.
Once you are confident, you can provide AI with your plan to see if there are any suggested improvements. Be sure to tell AI not to provide any code. You can write this code without AI.
Write Your Program in an IDE
Now that you have planned out your program, it's time to write it in your IDE. Since this program requires input values, use of the Java Playground is not an option.
Create a .java file for your main program file. You can name it EsportTournament.java and add your algorithm to the body of the main method in the starter code provided.
